Welcome to the Rabbits Class page. Happy New Year and welcome back to the Spring term.
Our aim is to ensure a happy class environment where children feel safe to express their ideas and excel in their learning. We hope to develop independence, engagement and enjoyment.
Mrs Key teaches Rabbits Class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs Savage teaches on Thursdays and Fridays.
Each week we will update you with our learning and pass on messages and reminders in home school diaries. There is also a communication page for you to use at home and if necessary you can leave messages for us.
Reading is an important part of our curriculum in Year 1 with a strong focus on sounding out words using phonics. It is also important to learn common exception words which are not sounded out (Rainbow words). Please do continue to practise Rainbow words at home and let us know when you think your child is ready for the next colour.
We will be starting weekly spellings this term on Fridays. A list of words will go home every Friday and then be tested the following Friday. These will be a combination of Rainbow words and words that follow a phonics pattern. The number of words will vary. Please see the inside cover of the new red spellings book for more information about spellings.
P.E. will be on a Monday and Friday this term so please remember to have your full kits in school during the week.
Our topic this term is A Knight’s Tale. Details about what we cover can be found using the link below.
As always, should you have any queries or concerns then please do come and see us.
