Welcome to the Rabbits class page.
A warm welcome back and I hope you have all had a lovely break. Our topic this term is The Great Fire of London. Please click here to view the Autumn Curriculum Information 2019.
Home School Diary
Each week, I will update you with our learning and pass on any messages and reminders in your child’s home school diary. There is also a communication page for you to use at home and if necessary you can leave any relevant messages. Please record in your child’s yellow reading record when you have read together at home and then tick their home school diary to show that they have read. Children who read every day will be eligible for our weekly reading draw.
Reading and Phonics
Reading is an important part of our curriculum, and in Year 1 there is a strong focus on sounding out words using phonics. As we progress through the different sounds your child will be given sound cards to practise at home. It is also important to learn to spell the common exception words which are located in the front of your child’s spelling book.
I will be updating the class blog regularly. To view this please click here
Our PE lessons will take place on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at all times. Please also remember that earrings are not permitted for PE.
Spellings will be set each Friday and tested on the following Friday. However, please ensure your child has their spelling book in their book bag every day. We would also encourage practising these daily at home. Please also read at home with your child as often as possible, ideally daily.
Should you have any further questions, or wish to discuss anything please do come and see me. I look forward to sharing many fun learning experiences throughout the year!
