Welcome to Hedgehogs class page.
A warm welcome back and I hope you have all had a lovely break. Our topic this term is It’s Great Outdoors. Please click here to view the Summer Curriculum Information 2019. My aim is to provide a positive learning environment where all children are encouraged to become independent learners as well as engaged and challenged in their learning in order to reach their full potential.
Each week in the home school diary I will update you with our learning and provide any relevant messages. If necessary, you can also leave any messages. Please record in your child’s yellow reading record when you have read together at home and then they can tick their home school diary to show that they have read. Children who read every day will be eligible for our weekly reading draw.
I will be updating the class blog regularly. To view this please click here
Our PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday and a Friday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at all times. Please also remember that earrings are not permitted for PE.
Spellings will be set each Friday and tested on the following Friday. However, please ensure your child has their spelling book in their book bag every day. We would also encourage practising these daily at home. Please also read at home with your child as often as possible, ideally daily.
KS1 Teacher assessment
During May 2019, children in year 2 will sit SATS papers. There are 5 test papers:
- Reading x 2
- English grammar, punctuation and spelling (optional)
- Maths arithmetic
- Maths reasoning
For 2019 the KS1 English grammar, punctuation and spelling test remains optional. We will NOT be administering this test.
Teacher assessments throughout the year will be primarily used to build up a picture of your child’s learning and achievements. At the end of the school year your child will receive an overall result saying whether or not they have achieved the expected standard for their age.
